2010 ACC College Football Picks

2010 ACC College Football Picks

The ACC’s Coastal Division

If you are looking for one division where college football picks might get wild and crazy this year, look no further than the ACC’s Coastal Division. With North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Miami all looking like viable candidates, where should bettors turn when making their plays? You will get different answers from different folks. There are some trendy picks int his division coming into 2010, but smart players know that trendy picks rarely beat out the solid, steady options.

UNC, Miami, and Georgia Tech will all be sexier picks this season, but Virginia Tech is the team to look out for. They figure to be undervalued often in the coming season, so there will be many opportunities to make college football picks on them at nice prices. With a tough home stadium, a great defense, and a veteran quarterback, Virginia Tech has the type of team that can challenge for a national championship. They have few holes and feature one of the most well regarded coaching staffs in the country.

So what’s not to like? You might hear people talking up the Tarheels, Hurricans, or Jackets this fall, but don’t sleep on the Hokies. They’ll be strong once again, just like in seemingly every year past.

Big Conference Match Ups & College Football Picks

Big Conference Matchups & College Football Picks

When making college football picks this season, you will need to keep your eye on one very important set of games. If you have been paying attention in the past, then you know that some conferences go outside and schedule tough teams, while others don’t. The SEC is notorious for scheduling patsies out of conference, then touting their conference strength when beating up on one another.

This year, the SEC will actually try to prove its worth. When you make college football picks, know that this particular league just might not be up to the challenge, even if its reputation suggests otherwise. LSU will play a good UNC team and Auburn will battle Clemson. These are pivotal matchups that will play a major role in determining how the early part of the season plays out. Though it’s fun to sleep on the ACC, don’t let yourself buy the SEC hype.

The temptation when making college football picks is to trust one trend across the board. Even if the SEC has shown power over the years, they will still have to prove it on the field. Handicap each game with this in mind, looking for value where you can find it.

Florida Gators College Football Picks against the Spread

Florida Gators College Football Picks against the Spread

There has been no team in college football over the past half decade or so that has been more successful than the Florida Gators. Every single season the Gators are favored to come out on top in the SEC conference and always have a legitimate shot at becoming a BCS champions while being favored heavily in college football picks on a weekly basis.

Over the past two seasons, the Florida Gators have had to prepare for life without arguably the best college football player of all-time in Heisman trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow.

Fortunately for the Gators, Tim Tebow decided to come back to Florida for one more season after winning a second BCS title, but even though Florida had yet another successful season, they were unable to get the best of Alabama and were knocked out of title contention.

Now the team will have to move on without Tim Tebow, who was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the NFL Draft, but they will have be concentrating on getting head coach Urban Meyer to sign a new contract in the meantime.

Reportedly, Urban Meyer is set to sign a six-year $24 million dollar contract with the Florida Gators this summer.

Colorado Buffaloes College Football Picks, Predictions vs the Spread

Colorado Buffaloes College Football Picks, Predictions vs the Spread

College football is on the verge of some drastic changes over the next couple of years as some college football programs during the offseason have accepted invitations to join other conferences in the near future.

The first prominent college football program to agree to make the move was the University of Colorado from the Big-12 conference. Despite not being the best team in their conference for quite some time and getting unfavorable spreads in college football picks over the years, the Buffaloes are looking for a promising new start in the Pac-10 competing with teams like USC, UCLA and Arizona State.

Even though the Pac-10 conference isn’t exactly the conference it was even a couple of years ago, Colorado could make a huge impact when they officially join the conference in 2012.

The Buffaloes would prefer to make the move to their new conference in 2011, just like the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be doing, but that might not be possible financially as CU would have to forfeit Big 12 revenues over the next two years.

If they want to do this they would have to pay about $10 million dollars for a buyout.

Ohio State College Football Picks, Prediction vs. the Spread

Ohio State College Football Picks, Prediction vs. the Spread

Ohio State is one of those teams that has a lot of momentum coming into the 2010 season. Additionally, Ohio State is a squad that is constantly underrated because of its style of play. Along with much of the Big 10, Ohio Style typically finds itself with advantageous numbers early in the year. When you make your college football picks in the coming year, you need to be on the lookout for solid Ohio State numbers. Starting in last year’s Rose Bowl, the Bucks punched their ticket to the top-5 in 2010, and they look like a strong bet to be in it all year long.

So why do we like Ohio State so much? Though their style might not be exciting, they just play good ball. You can always count on Ohio State having solid defense, especially in the front 7. That should happen once again, as they return the majority of their defensive starters. On the offensive side of the ball, Tyrelle Pryor is back. He looked much better down the stretch last year, and many believe that he can be an improved passer this year. If he adds that element to his scrambling game, Pryor could be an offensive force that runs over the Big 10.

The Bucks have flopped in big games time and again, but they are still a good value play. With a good coach, an experienced, talented quarterback, and depth along the lines, Ohio State has everything in place to be very good. Don’t miss out on the chance to bet them in the early going of 2010. The lines will be short before people recognize that Ohio State has a legitimate chance to win the National title. You won’t get those lines later in the year, so spot your college football picks early.
